Road 600 in the town of Raymond CA just east of the city of Madera CA, but still resides in Madera County.
On a turn out just north of the general store in Raymond CA. there is an out of place tombstone. (Heading from Madera it will be on your left hand side just as you pass the store.)
It is next to the parking lot which is slightly more elevated than the road. Because of this it has a retainer wall with is about 3 or so feet high. In the crudely made retainer wall is a tombstone that can easily be overlooked, and is by many people who visit this unique town.
I have asked around the area of Raymond and surrounding community but most people are surprised to know that there is a tombstone alongside the road in the first place. Most people use the elevated parking lot or are just passing buy and just have never noticed. I could not find out any additional information regarding the tombstone at this point. It actually appears to be a headstone. It’s the one that would be found in a more modern day cemetery. It is supposed to lay flat. Not like those Halloween decoration tombstones that stand up.
The tombstone being set on its side is rely out of the organdy and is not how this tombstone is intended to be used.
The inscription is:
BELOVED HUSBAND FATHER GRANDFATHER
HENRY S. UHL
